10 things                                                 Screenshot 2019-05-04 at 21.15.38.png

We were firstly presented with Mark’s 10 things and was then asked to do the same thing for ourselves and explain why we liked each one and figure out if there’s a link between them. This was to be presented in the following lesson.

After this we linked and explained each one, once I started reflecting on them as a whole, I began to see a theme around relaxing, feeling free and motivated but also a sense of being in control. I enjoyed this task and learnt a lot more about myself doing it.

Tax and self-employment

As a class we discussed tax and employment, national insurance, our terms, tax payments and how much each of us think we should be earning as graphic designers, the amounts ranged from 5k -30k a year.

As requested, I followed all the links and help provided but am unsure, I have done this correct. This took me longer to do than any other task as I kept putting it off and restarting because I was unconfident with what I was supposed to be doing.

Creating an identity                              Screenshot 2019-05-04 at 21.15.54

I created an identity and brand in my web and social media module last semester, from this I set up a website and 3 social media sites which I regularly check and update.

After numerous attempts and mind maps including Lilly plants, my children, my favourite colour and hobbies etc, I eventually had a few good ideas and decided a simple typography logo was best suited for me. Both my children and i have green eyes, the area inside the e’s (in which one has been coloured in green) are also called eyes which links it together nicely.

My website has my logo on the top of the page floating in the middle using the exact same colours and fonts as does my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook page.

I’m currently in the middle of creating brand guidelines for my logo but did not have time to finish these. This is something I want to spend more time on as is my website that I must admit does not got the attention it should anymore.

Un-binnable CV                                               IMG_0631

I started by thinking about what people use on their desks that they wouldn’t throw away like mouse mats, pen holders’ staplers and note pads etc. I decided to choose a mug to do my creative CV on. No-one throws away cups especially in an office, so even if it was to be put in the kitchen cupboard in the office it was still going to be kept and seen.

I firstly created a normal CV as my old one was very dated, then I designed the wrap for my mug in illustrator. I quickly realised the size was incorrect so had to contact the company who would be printing my image and find out the exact size. It was simply changed and sent off to print and was supposed to be ready the next day but when I arrived to collect it they told me their online ordering was down and that I would have to email the file over or bring it in on a USB stick.

When it was finally finished, I was really pleased with the result and thought I’d put just enough information on it, my website address is on the cup where there is access to my full CV.

I wasn’t in the session when this task was given out and had to get the information from Moodle and from my peers so I’m hoping its correct. I think I could have put more effort into this and made it more creative however there was a deadline and turn it portal for this particular task so had to do what I could with the time I had.

Who am I, where am I going?

This was one of the hardest tasks for me to do as I don’t really like talking about myself or what I think I’m good at, this is why the write up is only small.

My confidence with my work has slightly improved this year compared to last, I was always a little nervous about showing my work to people because I never think it’s good enough. This year though I have been exposing more of my designs etc and asking for opinions and for feedback all way through which is helping me heaps.
